It’s that wonderful time of the year,

the Christmas season, when the joy

on meeting friends who hold a special

place in your heart are here next to you.

The sadness comes when those

you’ve enjoyed, even loved over the

years, have gone. Passed away. Some

far too soon. Yet are far from forgotten.

Writer’s comment:

Spend a moment to remember them.

Those who were close and others who

passed through your life and left an

impression you will always hold dear

to you.

I lived in France some years ago and it brings

back memories I will never forget.

That small plaque at the base of Eiffel Tower

reminds me how fortunate I was in deciding

to spend a year there.

A week to get oriented to my surroundings, then

heading down to the small town of Sarlat

to work on my first book. I was told it would

take a long time before I’d be accepted by

the locals. It was total nonsense, believe me.

Writer's comment: Maybe you have no idea

how friendly the French can. be. They size you

up, taking their time in doing so, and decide

you'll be okay.
