You can't go sockless throughout the whole year, at least where I live.

My socks came off back in mid-June.

I couldn’t wait to shove my bare feet down into my comfy  canvas  runners.

Sneakers, or whatever.

Lace ‘em up not too tight yet loose  enough not

to cramp your feet when walking or running about.

Mid-September is upon us. Time to pull out

those socks from wherever you put them last spring.

Autumn nights are cooler now.  At least where  we live.

Writer’s Comment: What could be more heart-warming than watching the leaves soon turn to bright reds and yellows.

Can I wait? Why not?

It’s not easy looking  at this wide-eyed canine,

seen with his owner, our son Nathaniel.

Try to catch Gizmo blinking before you do.

He’ll stare you down knowing  full well you’ll

do it before he does.

The  young thirty-pound French bulldog likes

likes nothing better than knowing you ‘ll blink well

before he does.

I asked our son Nathaniel his owner, if there is

anything odd about him other than staring at us without

so much as a blink.

Nathaniel doesn’t hesitate  saying his dog loves

blueberries. That’s next to his greatest thrill : chasing

autumn leaves no matter where they fall. Or stretched

out as close as possible to a blazing fire in the fireplace.

Writer’s comment:  I know no other pooch, including

our own German Shepherd whose favorite meal is,

drum roll, a bowl of fresh, picked blueberries.

I’ll swear Rebelle breaks into a grin when she realizes

Gizmo is coming to visit.
