I’ve been bedazzled these past 10 days how much autumn colors has brought us this year. To me it seems brighter than usual. Is it my imagination working overtime? Whatever, I was snapping photos around home to capture those bright yellows and reds backed by green leaves that don’t change color.

I chose one that captured what I wanted: nothing but those bright yellows and red leaves that stood out sharply against the dark tree trunks.

When winter makes an appearance not too far from now, I’ll have that photo where I can touch a button on my laptop and see it blossom across the screen.

Here's the photo. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

The good news: It’s Thanksgiving Weekend in Canada, and what good timing. A wonderful touch of slightly colder nights, and warmish sunny days. The leaves are in full bloom, stunning color making you wish it could last all year around.

This Thanksgiving brings something special to those living where I do. It’s the annual Woodridge Fair, vibrant and old-fashioned enough to draw thousands to its 25 acres site, in town, over the three days.

Horse and cattle judging have always been part of it, with buildings set aside for displays from local artists and photographers. Yet another anchored down with farm equipment from the past. And who could forget the large area set aside with rides for kids?

Each Thanksgiving a bunch of us guys would celebrate the fair by sneaking into the grounds through a hole we’d dig under the heavy wire fence. Caught only once. Those were the days…!

The bad news: This year The Woodbridge Fair has been cancelled. For the first time since its beginning in 1847. For the first time ever! That’s un/fair.

Author’s comment: Like everything else – entertainment venues – have been closed everywhere. The pandemic is to blame. The fair being no exception. It had no chance of coming to life this year. Oh well, there’s always – keep fingers crossed – having it return next year and forever more.
