I've been writing a few lines each week over

the years. About what goes on in a writer's life.

I started off writing obituaries for the St. Thomas

(Ontario). Times Journal.

I was in the job for about six months when I

killed off someone who was very much alive.

It was his brother who had died.

The live one came roaring into the building

on fire wanting to punch out the sonofabitch

who had written it.

My editor told me to get lost for a few days

to let things cool down.

Writer's comment: If I've ever learned anything

from this, it's don't take anything for granted.

Or you'll find yourself in the mess I got myself

into.
