BECOMING THE FIFTY-FIRST?

As the old saying goes, it ain't going to happen.

Canada is a sovereign nation. We love it that way.

God only knows, looking at our past, how we've

managed to keep it that way.

Battles between us could easily have changed

everything. Drastically.

The United States of America would love to have us

part of them. Along with all our untouched resources.

Nor can I even think how I'd act as an American.

Funnily enough Americans think of themselves as that.

when Canada, being part and parcel of the continent, think

of ourselves as Canadians living in the bigger part of it.

Writer's comment: I get the feeling most of those

below the border enjoy having neighbors north of them.

They can visit another country without having to climb

board a train or plane to get there.
